
The State FEMinWASH team, led by the Chairperson Sanitarian Ikwo Eyo, conducted an advocacy and courtesy visit to the State Chairperson of SUBEB, Mrs. Fidelia Okpo Ene, along with her Board and Management team.
During the meeting, Sanitarian Ikwo Eyo presented the FEMinWASH initiative, highlighting its focus and vision. In response, Mrs. Fidelia Okpo Ene commended FEMinWASH for its visionary activities and commendable commitment to gender issues. She expressed a strong desire to collaborate and pledged her full support to ensure the success of the programme.
Key agreements reached during the visit included:
- Aggressive support for sensitization and awareness campaigns in schools, extending efforts to rural areas to promote the proper utilization of sanitation facilities.
- Partnership with FEMinWASH to commemorate Global Handwashing Day, potentially scheduling celebrations a week before or after the official date.
- Close collaboration between FEMinWASH and the SUBEB WASH Desk to coordinate the Global Handwashing Day event and other related activities.
The visit underscored a shared commitment to enhancing WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives with a gender-sensitive approach within the education sector.
